The Town of Halton Hills is hosting a virtual public open house to provide information and updates on the Stewarttown Secondary Plan.
This virtual event follows the survey that the Town released back in October 2021 to get feedback from the community about the proposed land use options for the plan.
The Hamlet of Stewarttown, along with joined lands to the southwest, has been identified as part of “the preferred growth option” for Sustainable Halton in 2009.
The completed plan will identify the most appropriate mix of land uses in the area. Additionally, it will incorporate the best practices for community development along with establishing housing density targets for the new community.
It will also help with converting the expansion lands to residential uses and maintain the existing character of the surrounding area.
The open house will feature a short presentation on the plan’s initial findings. Following the presentation, topics including the land use concept for the area and surrounding expansion lands, ongoing transportation, area servicing and cultural heritage will be discussed.
The open house will take place on April 4, 2022, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The Stewarttown expansion lands, which are approximately 80 acres in size, were included as part of Official Plan Amendment 10 and designated ‘Future Residential/Mixed Use Area’ along with the Vision Georgetown and Southeast Georgetown lands.
