New General’s Residence rises from empty lot in Madison after nearly 2 years since demolition

MADISON — Because its demolition almost two decades back, some who treasured the previous General’s Residence worried when they would push earlier the empty lot where by the iconic dwelling at the time stood.

In modern months, however, passersby could see the see a Tyvek-covered structure commence to arise. It at some point will grow to be a replica of the 18th century house overlooking Route 1.

Denny Van Liew, chairman of the Preservation Committee of the Madison Historic Society, was happy to see the copy becoming designed.

“I am delighted to see that likely up,” Van Liew stated. “It was normally intended to be the past building — persons ended up nervous.”
